Kakko Kari-Petteri: Tomorrow ("Those Looking Up to the Stars")

Tomorrow (“Those Looking Up to the Stars”)

Kakko Kari-Petteri

2013 bronze

Turun kaupungin taidekokoelma

Myllysilta / Läntinen Rantakatu

Those Looking Up to the Stars, located beside Myllysilta Bridge, consists of four sculptures representing different stages of human life. The figures, whose visual language draws inspiration from the world of cartoons and is characterised by exaggerated and distorted anatomical forms, express dreams, contemplation and the ability to pause in the present moment.

The figure in Tomorrow is a small child symbolising the future. The child crawls forwards with socks falling down around its ankles and points towards the sky, as though looking towards the possibilities and dreams of the future.
