The sculpture depicts Saint George, a central figure in Christian artistic tradition, together with the dragon he has defeated.

Beside Turku Cathedral stands a memorial marking the grave of the Whites from the Finnish Civil War of 1918. The reverse of the work features a relief of Turku’s coat of arms and the names of those who died in the Civil War and are buried at the site.
