Drummers

When the Pori Regiment Guild acquired Niilo Savia’s bronze sculpture Drummers following the relocation of the Pori Brigade from Turku to Säkylä, it was installed in Turku’s former barracks area as a reminder of the regiment’s traditions and the soundscape that once characterised the site.
Turku’s cityscape contains many works of art commemorating people and events regarded as significant both locally and nationally. In Drummers, the history of the Pori Brigade is symbolised by two drumming soldiers who carry out their duty with solemn expressions and great dedication.
Another version of the work is located in the Huovinrinne garrison area in Säkylä.
