Runosmäen monitoimitalo Riimi
In the work, a sturdy flagpole has been bent into a circular form resembling a nest shaped by the wind or a bird. Playful and humorous yet airy and light, the work serves as a landmark in the courtyard of the community centre Riimi in Runosmäki.
The nest symbolises the sense of community that characterises the community centre and the building’s role as the heart of its local community: a home nest where people can feel safe and rest, sheltered from the winds of the world. The lively, organic form of the bent flagpole appears as a human element, almost like a line drawn freehand.
The ball-like form creates a dialogue with the rectilinear mass of the community centre while also representing the area’s close relationship with nature.
