Saara Ekström’s environmental artwork Refrain is located in the heart of historic Turku, enhancing the public space created for residents beside the Main Library.

Although the work is made from heavy industrial material, the silhouette-like, symmetrically arranged rose ornamentation cut through the steel plate creates a delicate and lyrical overall impression.

Refrain can also be seen as referring to other artworks in the area, including Flow of Time and the Lion fountain.
