Aho Anja: Children

Children

Aho Anja

1959 bronze

Turun kaupungin taidekokoelma

Yliopistonkatu 29

Anja Aho’s bronze sculpture The Children stands beside a fountain along the pedestrian street Yliopistonkatu, reminding passers-by of childhood games in the water. The three child figures kneel beside the fountain. Their simplified forms are indistinct and dreamlike, like memories of childhood.

The sculpture was the first work of public art in Turku’s cityscape to have been created by a female artist.
