A legendary figure in the city is Valpuri Innamaa. She was a successful 16th-century businesswoman who, after being widowed, built up a thriving enterprise. The two figures meet in the heart of the city on Theatre Bridge. They are the main characters in a three-part story created by artist Jan-Erik Andersson.

Andersson’s work consists of three parts. On the bridge deck is a granite ornament in which the hat of the Turku Castle elf and a lock of Valpuri’s hair touch. On the riverbank, a colourful illuminated panel visualises the meeting between the two figures. In the third part, Andersson begins a story that was later continued by writers from Turku.
