Rosa Barbas\u202f(f. 1972 i Agrigento, Italien) f\u00f6rsta soloutst\u00e4llning i Finland visas i WAM. I utst\u00e4llningen\u202fTouched by the Same Breath of Air\u202f(Ber\u00f6rda av samma andetag) ing\u00e5r film- och videoinstallationer, skulpturer och installationer. Det centrala verket i utst\u00e4llningen \u00e4r installationen\u202fBlind Volumes\u202f(2016) som fyller WAMs hela skulptursal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rosa Barba f\u00f6renar immaterialitet och materialitet i sin konst. Immaterialiteten till trots betonar verken rumslighet och en stark fysisk n\u00e4rvaro. Barba, som ursprungligen f\u00e5tt en utbildning inom film, anv\u00e4nder sig ofta av film, gamla filmprojektorer och texter som material. Teman kommer fr\u00e5n arkiv, museisamlingar, astronomin, arkitekturen eller landskapsfotografering. Verken behandlar bland annat m\u00e4nniskans f\u00f6rh\u00e5llande till sin omgivning och naturen samt hur vi klassificerar saker och ting. I verken ing\u00e5r ofta referenser till avantgardefilmer och spekulativ fiktion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Barbas huvudsakliga medium \u00e4r film. Dessutom jobbar hon med installationer, skulptur och med samtida b\u00f6cker. Barba sj\u00e4lv framh\u00e4ver filmen som fysiskt objekt och betydelsen av analog teknologi i den digitala \u00e5ldern. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rosa Barba har h\u00e5llit \u00e5tskilliga separatutst\u00e4llningar runtom i v\u00e4rlden. Hennes konstverk har varit med p\u00e5 flera internationella festivaler och granskningar av modern konst. Barba har vunnit prestigefyllda bildkonstpris samt bland annat deltagit tre g\u00e5nger i Venedigbiennalen. Barba bor och arbetar i Berlin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
